The political party Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista (NC-BC) recently held its II Isla-Hogar Convention in Lanzarote and La Graciosa. During this event, island leadership bodies were renewed, and the main political lines to guide the party in the next electoral cycle were outlined.
One of the most significant announcements of the day was the confirmation of Yoné Caraballo's aspiration to head the NC-BC list for the presidency of the Cabildo de Lanzarote in the elections scheduled for May 2027. Caraballo explained that his political project, under the slogan "Recuperar Lanzarote" (Recover Lanzarote), aims to place citizens at the center of future decisions affecting the island.
The convention, held at the Casa de la Juventud in Arrecife, was attended by local representatives and members of the national leadership, including national president Natalia Santana, national organization secretary Ayoze Corujo, and general secretary Luis Campos.
Organizationally, new members were elected for the Tagoror-Asamblea Insular and the Sábor-Ejecutiva Insular. Belén Machín was elected president of the island bodies, while Yoné Caraballo will assume the insular secretary role for NC-BC in Lanzarote and La Graciosa. The party views this renewal as the start of a new phase of preparatory work for the upcoming regional and local elections.
The political priorities outlined by Caraballo for his potential term include housing, water management, land use planning, sustainability, and public services. Regarding tourism, he proposed implementing a moratorium on the creation of new tourist beds to curb urban development and prioritize the quality of life for residents.
Concerning housing, he advocated for measures to facilitate access to homes, such as limiting rental prices and increasing fiscal pressure on speculative practices. On water management, he announced the intention to restore fully public management of this service under the direct responsibility of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, aiming for efficiency and transparency.
Additionally, the NC-BC leader expressed support for the recent demonstration defending the Hospital Insular de Lanzarote and public healthcare, emphasizing the need to strengthen these essential services as part of his "Recuperar Lanzarote" project.

The convention concluded with the membership's endorsement of the new leadership team, marking the beginning of a new phase of work to prepare for the 2027 elections.
