The Puntallana City Council has finalized the allocation of aid for the rehabilitation of private homes, as part of the program to combat rural depopulation under the Canary Islands Housing Plan 2020-2025. A total of 17 families in the municipality will benefit from this initiative, which has a global investment of 85,209.19 euros, funded by the Canary Islands Housing Institute.
The main objective is to facilitate the improvement of habitability and efficiency conditions in homes, helping families maintain their permanent residence in the municipality and develop their life projects.

The subsidized actions will focus on homes intended for habitual and permanent residence. They include interventions such as the rehabilitation of facades affected by humidity, repair of roofs, renovation of exterior carpentry, and bathroom renovations, among other improvements aimed at increasing the safety, accessibility, comfort, and energy efficiency of the homes.
The local government emphasizes the importance of these programs for improving the existing housing stock and encouraging the retention of the population in rural areas, especially given the financial difficulties many families face in undertaking rehabilitation and conservation works on their homes.
