The fifth edition of the IsLABentura Canarias script laboratory, organized by the Government of the Canary Islands, enters its final stage this week in Agaete, with script presentations to production companies and an awards gala on Saturday the 24th.

Agaete (Gran Canaria) will be the focal point for the final phase of IsLABentura Canarias, the script laboratory organized by the Government of the Canary Islands through Canary Islands Film. Representatives from the film and television industry will gather on the island starting Tuesday, October 22nd, to review the scripts developed throughout the year and explore financing opportunities.
Screenwriters will present their projects during pitching sessions on Friday the 23rd at the Casa de la Cultura de Agaete to over twenty national and Canarian production companies, including Movistar Plus, Secuoya, Onza, Portocabo, Fasten Films, and Buendía Estudios.
The awards gala, where the winning scripts will be announced, will take place on Saturday the 24th at Finca Lomo Valerón. Recognitions will be presented by entities such as DAMA, Movistar+, CIIF Market, CIMA, Music Library & SFX, Fundación Algo en común, and Laboratorio Audiovisual.
As a new development, Canarian actress Toni Acosta joins the project as an ambassador, contributing to its promotion. She will receive a special award at the gala for this role.
This edition has seen the development of sixteen scripts set across the islands: seven fiction feature films, seven fiction television series, and two animation projects. Among them are 'La siervita' (Tenerife), 'El bi-aje de Lucas' (Gran Canaria), 'Gonsalvus' (La Gomera), '¿Aceptas casarte con T.N.?' (Fuerteventura), 'Cachalote' (La Palma), 'Yesenia' (Lanzarote), and 'Chirla' (El Hierro).
The tutoring team has included professionals such as Curro Royo, Pablo Bartolomé, Arantxa Cuesta, Alba Lucío, Gianmarco Serra, Isabel Herguera, Sara Bamba, Yolanda Barrasa, and Borja Santaolalla.
The project is supported by the Government of the Canary Islands, Canary Islands Film, Proexca, the seven island councils, and various entities from the audiovisual sector. The commitment to the environment is also reaffirmed through a reforestation day at Finca de Osorio, in Teror.
