Aitana Rodríguez and Edgar Bolaños have been proclaimed Guayarmina and Bentejuí for the 544th Fiestas Mayores de Santiago in Gáldar, during a gala held at the Plaza de Santiago.

The gala paid tribute to all the Guayarminas crowned over more than 60 years of the event, bringing them together on stage in a historic moment. Aitana Rodríguez and Edgar Bolaños now assume these titles, succeeding Atenea Ruiz and Carlos Eduardo Flores from the previous edition.
The selection was made based on public votes via the Gáldar City Council app and the evaluation of a jury including journalist Ibán Padrón, fashion designer Cristina Robledano, Isidro Javier Pérez Mateo (makeup artist and Bentejuí 2014), Paula Mateo García (makeup artist and social media content creator), set designer Carlos Santos, and designer Amanda López (Amy Aire brand). Aspirants paraded in traditional, sport, and evening wear.
The event, hosted by journalists Rubén Castellano and Cathaysa González, opened with a performance by Ana Falcón and the Agrupación Folclórica Surco y Arado. It also featured performances by Martta Sanz and Adexe y Nau. Amanda Velasco Díaz, winner of the Voces de Gáldar 2026 gala, also performed.
The mayor of Gáldar, Teodoro Sosa, crowned the Guayarmina, while the first deputy mayor and councilor for Culture and Festivals, Julio Mateo Castillo, crowned the Bentejuí.
Following the gala, the first edition of the Gáldar Urban Fest took place, a new urban music festival featuring reggaeton, Latin trap, and electronic music, with artists such as De la Rose, Danny Romero, and the Argentine duo Vius.
The 544th Fiestas Mayores de Santiago are organized by the Culture and Festivals department of the Gáldar City Council. The full event program is available on galdar.es and @ayuntamientodegaldar.
