The edition of the Santiago Major Festivals of Gáldar concluded with a massive concert by the duo Camela at the Cultural Venue of La Quinta, drawing over 3,000 attendees. This event served as the grand finale to a program featuring more than a hundred activities and notable public participation.
Julio Mateo Castillo, first deputy mayor and councilor for Culture and Festivals of the Gáldar City Council, highlighted the festive atmosphere and joy experienced throughout the month of celebrations. He pointed out that traditions preserved across generations and word-of-mouth attract visitors, solidifying the municipality as a benchmark for its festivities.
The councilor explained that the festival program design aims to bring the city's traditions, legacy, and history closer to the public, incorporating culture and music. Events such as the Dance and Zambra of the Giants and Fire Horses, the Float Parade, the Traditional Pilgrimage, and the Battle of Flowers were particularly well-attended this year.
The musical offerings also included the return of El Vega Life, a performance by artist Merche, and the debut of the Gáldar Urban Fest, a new festival aimed at younger audiences. The proximity of the 2027 Jacobean Holy Year also marked this edition, emphasizing the importance of faith and traditions.
Camela's concert, part of their “+ de 30” tour, repeated the success of their 2019 performance in Gáldar. The duo performed hits such as “Sueños Inalcanzables,” “Nunca debí enamorarme,” “Nunca te he olvidado,” and “Tu mirada,” to an enthusiastic audience that sang along to their songs.
Sunday's activities also included events for children, such as the Children's Play Park with workshops and games, and the children's show “Karkocha.” The group Hierba Buena performed in the square, and a popular lunch was held with the municipal corporation led by the mayor, Teodoro Sosa.
