The Gáldar Agricultural Market will once again be held in the Plaza de Santiago on Sunday, September 6th, during its usual hours of 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM. This event has established itself as a key meeting point between producers and consumers for purchasing fresh, local, and nearby products in the north of Gran Canaria.
The initiative, organized by the Department of Socioeconomic Development of the Gáldar City Council and the Association of Agricultural Markets of Gran Canaria, with the collaboration of the Department of Primary Sector of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, will introduce new features for the public.
Among the new additions is a raffle of local product baskets for shoppers, as a thank you for their support and to promote local productions. Additionally, tastings prepared by students from the Training Programs in Alternation with Employment (PFAE) in Restoration and Cuisine, funded by the Canary Employment Service, will be incorporated.
The market offers a wide variety of primary sector products and artisanal elaborations, including seasonal fruits and vegetables, cheeses, honey, bread, and sweets. The aim is to facilitate access to nearby food and boost the local economy and the primary sector.
Following the September 6th event, the planned calendar includes new editions on September 20th and October 4th and 18th, maintaining the market's bi-weekly schedule. The Gáldar Agricultural Market thus aims to continue being a space to support local producers and highlight the richness of Gran Canaria's primary sector.
