The mayor of Gáldar, Teodoro Sosa, and the Councilor for Tourism, Ulises Miranda, visited the final day of filming in Botija. Accompanied by Eric Ceballos, Nostromo's location manager in the Canary Islands, they observed the shooting of the concluding scenes with the film's lead actor and the production team. The base camp for the production was established in both the Gáldar ravine and Botija.
The Department of Tourism, in collaboration with the production company Nostromo, coordinated the production's deployment within the municipality. One of the notable locations was Costa Botija, an area that was once a landfill decades ago and has now been transformed into one of the most exceptional landscapes on the Gran Canarian coast, thanks to the efforts of the Gáldar City Council.
The film, directed by William Eubank, also features actors such as Rose Leslie, Andreas Pietschmann, Stacy Clausen, and Daniel Zovatto in its cast. Russell Crowe is a renowned figure in international cinema, particularly following his acclaimed performance in ‘Gladiator’.
Gáldar thus joins the list of Canarian municipalities attracting major film productions. In recent years, the island has hosted stars like John Travolta in ‘Mareas Negras’ and Samuel L. Jackson in ‘Just Play Dead’, alongside series and films such as ‘Zorro’, ‘Palmeras en la Nieve’, and ‘Taxi a Gibraltar’, among other productions and commercials.
Teodoro Sosa emphasized the significance of these filmings, stating that they "turn Gáldar into an open-air cinema set, enhancing our landscapes and heritage values." He added, "It is a sector that generates the economy, as these types of productions mobilize hundreds of people who stay and consume in Gáldar, in addition to contracting local companies and personnel."
