A total of 42 students registered in Gáldar have received municipal aid amounting to 50,000 euros for their university and higher artistic studies, covering expenses not contemplated by other administrations.

The Gáldar City Council has allocated 50,000 euros to a new call for study grants, benefiting 42 university and higher artistic education students. This initiative, now in its fourth consecutive year, aims to support the municipality's youth in their educational expenses.
The scholarships are aimed at students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, and higher artistic studies who have been residents of Gáldar for at least two years. The awarded amount is determined by the justified expenses of each beneficiary, thus complementing other available public grants.
A notable feature of these grants is their focus on covering costs not included in scholarships from the Ministry of Education, the Government of the Canary Islands, or other public administrations, thereby addressing a broader range of academic needs.

"From the City Council, we do not want any student from Gáldar to have their access to education limited by the associated costs."

Teodoro Sosa · Mayor of Gáldar
The Mayor of Gáldar, Teodoro Sosa, and the Councilor for Education, Rita Cabrera, met with the beneficiary students to confirm that the call for applications will be relaunched next academic year. Sosa emphasized the positive impact of these grants on both family finances and the professional development opportunities for young people.
This established municipal support program, now in its fourth edition, distributes the 50,000 euros among the 42 beneficiaries based on their accredited expenses, reaffirming the Consistory's commitment to supplementing public scholarships and covering additional costs related to higher education.
