The initiative, managed by the Department of Environment, now reaches the areas of El Agujero, Caleta de Arriba, La Punta de Galdar, Los Dos Roques, and La Furnia. This deployment continues the organic waste collection network already functioning in other locations such as Barrial, San Isidro, La Enconada, Marmolejos, Nido Cuervo, and Piso Firme.
To access the service, residents must register through the municipal website. The system requires prior registration to ensure proper use, as the bins are equipped with a locking mechanism. Once the process is completed, users receive a kit consisting of a ten-liter bucket, compostable bags, and the key needed to open the container.
“"The deployment of the fifth container continues to advance through the municipality and now reaches the coastal neighborhoods. We invite residents to register to start using this new service."
The project is supported by the technical collaboration of the company Gruas Gran Canaria and the Canarias Recicla Foundation. The main goal is to transform organic waste into compost for use in gardening and agriculture, thus promoting a more sustainable waste management model in Gran Canaria.
