The Gáldar City Council approved its 2025 general account in an extraordinary plenary session, confirming its financial strength and the plan to settle its 31.2 million euro historical debt inherited in 2007.

In an extraordinary plenary session held this Tuesday, the Gáldar City Council approved the general account for the 2025 fiscal year. These financial figures confirm the council's sound economic health. The Councilor for Finance, Valeria Guerra, ratified the commitment to settle the historical debt of 31.2 million euros, inherited in 2007, by April 2027.
The city's mayor, Teodoro Sosa, thanked the work carried out by the councilor and municipal technicians, emphasizing that after 19 years of effort, the City Council's economic solvency, credibility, and rigor have improved, generating "economic tranquility." "Settling the historical debt is one of the central commitments of this governing group, and we will fulfill it in April 2027," he stated.
Valeria Guerra detailed that the debt will be reduced to 1.9 million euros by December 2026, after the final payment of the last short-term credit policy (approximately 600,000 euros) was completed last July. More than 2 million euros are scheduled to be paid in the coming months.
The councilor also reported that the 2025 fiscal year closed with revenues of 43.6 million euros and expenses of 42.4 million euros, resulting in a net saving of nearly one million euros, figures that reflect the City Council's good financial situation.
Of the total 42.4 million euros in expenses for 2025, approximately 77% (32.7 million euros) had a direct impact on citizens. Of this amount, 15 million euros were allocated to basic public services, 6.9 million to social protection and promotion actions, and 10.8 million to the production of preferential goods.
