Starting this Thursday, April 30, the historic center of Gáldar will be transformed into a large open-air garden with the ‘Gáldar en Flor’ initiative, filling its streets with thousands of flowers and decorative elements until May 24.

The official inauguration of ‘Gáldar en Flor’ will take place this Thursday at 6:30 PM, when residents and visitors can explore a completely transformed city. Capitán Quesada Street and the surroundings of Plaza de Santiago will be the epicenter of this floral exhibition, which gains more prominence in the municipal calendar each year.
Organized by the Parks and Gardens Department of the Gáldar City Council, the exhibition will feature a wide variety of floral species such as geraniums, daisies, sunflowers, hydrangeas, ferns, petunias, gerberas, and impatiens, bringing life and color to the municipality. This edition, in addition to flowers, incorporates an aesthetic focused on classic spring and traditional festival elements, such as Ferris wheels, carousels, and windmills, creating a nostalgic and festive atmosphere in the urban spaces.
Gáldar en Flor’ has established itself as one of the main decorative proposals of the municipality, serving as the spring version of the traditional Flower Week celebrated in December. The choice of May for this event allows for leveraging the botanical richness and vibrant colors of the season, transforming the historic center into a sensory experience open to the public.
The initiative features plants from nurseries such as Godoy S.L., Poinsettias de Canarias S.L., and Viveros Gáldar S.L., in addition to the municipal nursery. Companies like Corsua, responsible for artificial turf work, and Canaragua Medio Ambiente also collaborate. With this edition, Gáldar aims not only to beautify its streets but also to revitalize the municipality, attract visitors, and strengthen its identity as one of the most unique cultural and scenic enclaves of Gran Canaria.
