The Insular Sports Institute (IID) has reinforced its commitment to grassroots sports in Gran Canaria, allocating an additional 108,560 euros to clubs in less populated municipalities, bringing the total investment to 7.6 million euros.

This financial injection aims to support the participation of young athletes in official promotional competitions, ensuring access and sports development from an early age. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to foster healthy lifestyle habits among the island's youth.

"In this way, we prioritize access and sports development for children and young people so that they have health-aligned lifestyle habits from an early age."

The work of local sports entities has been highlighted as fundamental for building a healthy and cohesive society. Municipalities such as Santa María de Guía de Gran Canaria, Santa Brígida, and Valsequillo de Gran Canaria are among those that have received a larger volume of aid, benefiting numerous clubs and associations.
In the field of football and futsal, towns like Agaete, Mogán, and Santa Brígida concentrate some of the most significant amounts in the call. Clubs such as Unión Deportiva Agaete, Club Deportivo Femarguín, Asociación Deportiva Arsenal Town, and Club Fútbol Sala Valsefutsal have received funding to cover organization and participation expenses in competitions.
This aid aims to offset the costs associated with sports activities, strengthening access to practice from childhood and ensuring the continuity of competitions throughout the island. Special emphasis has been placed on benefiting municipalities with lower population density, promoting decentralization and active living in local environments.
