The main opposition party in Gáldar has expressed concern over the scarcity of public restrooms in the municipality, stating that this situation affects the quality of life for residents and visitors.

The political group has denounced the lack of an adequate network of public restrooms in Gáldar, a situation it deems unacceptable for a locality with over 25,000 inhabitants and a constant flow of visitors.
According to the party, the local government prioritizes the organization of mass events and activities, neglecting essential basic services. This complaint, the party states, has been raised on multiple occasions without an effective solution being provided.

"This situation has been reported repeatedly without an effective solution being offered."

The lack of proper facilities is leading many people to relieve themselves in public spaces such as streets, doorways, and garages, causing inconvenience to residents. Criticism is directed at the fact that the only available resource is a small restroom in the Plaza de los Faycanes, which costs 50 cents to use and does not guarantee continuous operation.
The party considers it an error that residents must pay for a basic service, while the City Council allocates resources to free mass events that attract external visitors. They argue that it is unreasonable to prioritize spending on leisure over essential needs that directly impact citizens' quality of life.
For its part, the City Council has indicated that Gáldar has an adequate network of public restrooms, both in the town center and in the different neighborhoods. They state that in the center of the locality, restrooms are located in the Casas Consistoriales and operate with extensive hours from Monday to Sunday.
