The Popular University of Guía, part of the Society for the Promotion and Development of Guía, opened its pre-registration period for the new 2026/2027 academic year this Wednesday, September 16th. The period will remain open until Friday, September 25th.
The initial offering includes seven courses and workshops focused on physical well-being, creativity, and Canarian traditions, such as Sewing, Yoga, Crafts, Patchwork, Maintenance Gymnastics, Canarian Traditional Clothing, and Reading Workshop. This program will be expanded throughout the academic year.
The councilor responsible for the area, Ruth Martín Rodríguez, highlighted that the Popular University aims to be an open space for learning, physical activity, and enjoyment in company. "We want citizens to be encouraged to participate and enjoy everything this project offers," she stated.
Martín Rodríguez emphasized the combination of established activities with new proposals and the intention to incorporate more workshops based on citizen demands. She also underscored the initiative's social aspect as a place for meeting and coexistence.
Pre-registration will be conducted in person at the Popular University's headquarters, located in the Municipal Building for Polivalent Uses in San Roque. The opening hours will be Mondays and Fridays, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
The councilor encouraged participation, expressing enthusiasm for consolidating the Popular University as an accessible and dynamic space, with new proposals to be added throughout the year.
