The governing group of Garafía City Council has expressed its dissatisfaction with the opposition's attitude following the recent municipal plenary session, labeling it a discrediting strategy.

In a statement, the Garafía government team lamented that the opposition's recent communication responds to a discrediting strategy that, in their view, does not favor institutional development or the general interest of the municipality. They reminded that the plenary is the main forum for political debate and oversight of government actions.
The local government explained that the questions raised during the plenary session aim to highlight that many current issues were not resolved in previous stages, as an exercise in responsibility and transparency. Furthermore, they pointed out that an attempt has been made to convey a “distorted” view of municipal reality through social media publications that mix opinion with information, causing confusion among residents.

This type of communication, far from providing solutions, contributes to deteriorating the image of the municipality both inside and outside Garafía, conveying a vision that does not reflect the daily work being carried out.

The governing group emphasized that it is actively working to resolve numerous inherited issues and problems that remained unsolved for years. They find it “striking that decisions and actions are now being questioned when work is precisely underway to correct them and provide solutions.”
The mayor, José Ángel Sánchez, urged the opposition to embrace their role and actively engage in municipal life, participating in the economic, social, and cultural activities of Garafía, with responsibility and institutional respect.
