The Tijarafe City Council, with financial support from the Cabildo of La Palma, has launched an inclusive summer camp for minors with disabilities, under the slogan 'Inclusion where I live'.

The main objective of this initiative is to allow children and adolescents with disabilities to enjoy leisure and social activities during the summer in their own municipality, without needing to travel. The pilot project incorporates additional human resources, professional technical support, and specialized assistance to ensure participation on equal terms.
The Department of Social Action of the Cabildo, led by Ángeles Fernández, has allocated a subsidy of 8,000 euros to the Tijarafe City Council to make this experience possible. This measure responds to a demand from local families and aims to strengthen work-life balance during the summer months.
The camp is aimed at minors with a disability certificate registered in Tijarafe. The collaboration between the Cabildo and the City Council, represented in a meeting between Ángeles Fernández, mayor Yaiza Cáceres, and councilor Érika Castro, seeks to validate a collaborative model that can be replicated in other municipalities.
The initiative pursues a dual purpose: offering adapted leisure activities and support to families during the holiday period, facilitating work-life balance. The lack of adapted resources can limit the participation of minors with disabilities in normalized activities, a problem this project aims to address through proximity.
Mayor Yaiza Cáceres thanked the Cabildo for addressing the demands and highlighted the pilot nature of the project, which aims to serve as a reference for future inclusive conciliation and leisure programs. The inclusion of specialized support and qualified staff is key to ensuring the safety and well-being of participants.
