Residents living near the 'Hungarian House' in the El Time area of Tijarafe have expressed their exhaustion with the property's current state. They claim the estate, unoccupied since its owner was murdered in 2006, is frequented by individuals, mostly foreigners, who cause constant disturbances. According to the residents, these individuals organize unauthorized parties, trespass on private properties, commit acts of vandalism, start fires, and have even engaged in assaults.
The affected parties are calling for official action to declare the building dilapidated and proceed with its demolition. "We want the house's ruinous state to be recognized and for it to be demolished to reclaim this unique spot so we can live in peace," they stated. They added that there is "concern and discontent" among law-abiding residents, who are seeking "protection and support against these acts."
The 'Hungarian House' is named after its former owner, a Hungarian ophthalmologist named Josef Bacskulin, who was murdered in the residence at the age of 78. The crime caused significant shock on the island of La Palma due to its brutality and the circumstances surrounding it.
For her part, the mayor of Tijarafe, Yaiza Cáceres, informed this outlet that the City Council has initiated the demolition procedures. However, the first step is to locate the current owners of the property, whose identity is currently unknown.
