The incident began after a report of a street brawl involving individuals armed with knives. According to investigations, a group of four people allegedly violently attacked a couple. One of the assailants reportedly held the woman by the neck, threatening her with a large knife while stealing her personal belongings, as the man accompanying her was pursued by several other attackers also carrying knives.
The victims sought safety near a military barracks and requested help from the security personnel on duty. One of the assailants, armed with a knife, continued the pursuit and attacked a soldier who intervened to prevent him from reaching the victim. As a result of the confrontation, the soldier sustained injuries to both arms and one hand. Due to the risk to those present, members of the guard detail fired warning shots, ultimately disarming and subduing the alleged aggressor.
Shortly after, several National Police units arrived, secured the area, and initially arrested two of the alleged involved parties. Subsequent investigations, handled by Judicial Police agents from the Puerto del Rosario station with collaboration from Citizen Security and Forensic Police, reconstructed the events and identified the remaining individuals allegedly linked to the assault.
The investigation led hours later to a third man, aged 47, who was located and arrested as an alleged co-perpetrator of the violent robbery. During his processing at the police station, officers found a bag containing approximately five grams of cocaine and nearly three grams of heroin among his belongings. The latter substance was divided into nine individual doses, which, along with other gathered evidence, led to him also being charged with a drug trafficking offense.
The investigation also identified a fourth individual, a 25-year-old woman, as an alleged participant in the violent robbery. She remained at large and a police warrant had been issued for her arrest. Based on statements from victims and witnesses, the seized items, and other investigative proceedings, the police investigation suggests the incident originated from a possible settling of scores or a violent debt collection related to local drug trafficking circles. The arrested individuals are charged, depending on their involvement, with alleged crimes of robbery with violence and intimidation, attempted homicide, assault on an authority agent, and drug trafficking.
Once police proceedings were concluded, the three arrestees were handed over to the competent judicial authority in Puerto del Rosario, which ordered their provisional imprisonment.
