The updated project includes the expansion of the EDAR in Puerto del Rosario, an infrastructure for treating the municipality's wastewater and subsequently regenerating part of the treated water. The contract is being processed through an open procedure with ordinary processing, with a deadline for submitting offers until November 9 and an estimated execution period of 20 months.
The project will double the facility's treatment capacity, increasing it from the current approximately 3,000 cubic meters per day to 6,000 cubic meters per day. Wastewater treatment lines and equipment will be expanded, along with new facilities for treating the sludge generated during the purification process.
Among the planned improvements are advanced biological treatment processes to enhance treated water quality and provide greater process stability against flow variations. Solid and sand removal will also be optimized, and new facilities will be built for more efficient sludge dewatering, thereby reducing waste volume and its associated environmental impact.
The resulting water will be of adequate quality for reuse in irrigation for the primary sector and green areas, among other uses. The availability of regenerated water will help reduce pressure on conventional water resources and free up resources for other purposes, such as supplying the population. The project also includes measures to reduce marine discharges and improve environmental integration of the facility, located in the industrial area of Risco Prieto.
