The town of Hermigua will host a conference on the complex current geopolitical reality on June 20th, characterized by global interdependence and polarization.

The event, titled “A World in Change: The New Geopolitics,” will feature Professor José Abu-Tarbush, a Doctor of Political Science and Tenured Professor at the University of La Laguna. His academic career has focused on the analysis of the Middle East and North Africa, including the Palestinian issue, the Palestinian national movement, the foreign policy of major world powers, and authoritarianism.
The lecture will address the dynamics of an interconnected yet polarized world, where competition among powers, regional conflicts, and control over natural resources are altering alliances and the balance of power. Understanding these transformations is considered essential for anticipating risks, designing effective international policies, and maintaining global stability.
The conference is an initiative by the Asociación Procultura Siglo XXI, in collaboration with the Cabildo de La Gomera and the Ayuntamiento de Hermigua. It will take place at the Antiguo Casino de Hermigua at 6:30 PM.
