The Vallehermoso City Council has approved the modification of the ordinance regulating study grants, introducing changes to economic criteria and updating the amounts of these benefits.

The new regulation establishes new income thresholds for accessing grants, using the criteria of the Ministry of Education and the IPREM as a reference to determine the economic requirements for family units. These changes modify the income limits previously in place.
The grant amounts have also been modified. For students studying within La Gomera, the amount increases from 100 to 200 euros. For those who must study off the island, the grant rises from 300 to 500 euros, acknowledging the additional expenses associated with travel and accommodation.
The ordinance modification, approved in a plenary session with favorable votes from the Governing group and opposition votes against, also included the ratification of a collaboration agreement with Radio ECCA to inform residents about educational options and qualifications.
The new conditions will apply to future municipal calls, where requirements, documentation, deadlines, and application procedures will be detailed. The ordinance thus updates access criteria and amounts, differentiating the sums based on the place of study.
