Accommodation businesses in Lanzarote, numbering fewer than 200 regularly operating establishments across seven municipalities, generated nearly 511 million euros in the first half of the year, according to data from the Cabildo's Data Center. This figure represents a 7.6% improvement compared to the same period in 2025, with virtually no change in the number of guests.
1.46 million guests were served in the first half of the fiscal year, staying in hotels, apartments, and similar accommodations, resulting in over 8.62 million overnight stays. In the same period last year, approximately 1.44 million clients were recorded with 8.56 million overnight stays, showing a similar average stay to the current year.
Considering the usual trend of higher visitor numbers and spending in the summer, it is anticipated that revenues will again surpass 1 billion euros in 2026. This milestone was first reached at the end of 2025, with a total of over 1.021 billion euros.
However, the sector anticipates a potential decline in travelers compared to the previous summer, particularly from the German market. A slight decrease is expected from the British and other markets, while domestic tourism is projected to increase.
The island's accommodation capacity is around 64,000 beds, primarily concentrated in the municipalities of Tías, Yaiza, and Teguise. The sector provides nearly 13,500 direct jobs.
The revenue generated between January and June of this year exceeds the total annual balance of any year prior to 2014. Twelve years ago, the annual record stood at just under 490 million euros.
Hotel establishments were the main drivers of this performance, with combined revenues of 404 million euros. Non-hotel accommodations, despite being more numerous, generated 107 million euros with a smaller bed capacity compared to hotels.
In both categories, the sums for the first half of 2026 are higher than those recorded in the first six months of 2025.
