The Teguise City Council has initiated the process to grant six new taxi licenses, aimed at covering the growing passenger transport service in the town.

These authorizations will be distributed as four licenses for conventional vehicles and two for adapted units, responding to the plenary approval in March 2025 that increased the number of available auto taxi licenses in the municipality.
A special preference is established for drivers already working as employees or self-employed in Teguise. Accredited professional seniority will be a key merit in evaluating these applications.
Should all licenses not be filled by preferential applicants, a free competition will be opened for other individuals. Selection criteria for this competition will include residency in Teguise, previous experience in the taxi sector, family situation, and possession of adequate driving permits.
Applicants must meet requirements such as holding the corresponding driving permit and the municipal auto taxi driver's license, being up-to-date with their tax and Social Security obligations, and not holding other taxi licenses in the islands, except for legal exceptions.
Vehicles used must have a maximum age of two years, a capacity for five to nine passengers, and include a certified taximeter and an external identification module.
The period for submitting applications will extend for 20 business days starting the day after the announcement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas. Applications can be submitted at the General Registry of the Teguise City Council, through its electronic headquarters, or by other administrative means.
