The Famara Festivals in La Caleta, running from Friday to Sunday, are expected to attract a significant number of visitors, necessitating special mobility measures. The Teguise City Council, in collaboration with the Lanzarote Cabildo, has organized a joint taxi service and bus routes to facilitate access to and from the town.
Eugenio Robayna, Councilor for Security and Emergencies of the Teguise City Council, detailed the public transport enhancements. A nighttime taxi service will be available, alongside new bus routes. One new line will connect Arrecife with San Bartolomé, making stops in various locations before reaching La Caleta de Famara and Famara. The bus service will commence on Friday at 8:00 PM and operate until 4:30 AM, with security personnel at the stops. On Saturday, buses will run from 2:00 PM to 2:00 AM, and on Sunday, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Due to the anticipated crowds, traffic will be restricted in La Caleta de Famara. The main entrance from Villa de Teguise will be designated as an exit-only route from 8:00 PM on Friday until 6:00 AM on Saturday. This measure aims to ensure access for emergency services, public transport, and residents who may require urgent departure. On Saturday, the closure will be from 2:00 PM to 4:00 AM, and on Sunday, coinciding with the procession, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Entry will be exclusively through Soo, while exit will be possible via Soo or Villa de Teguise.
The taxi stand will be located next to the bus stop at the entrance to La Caleta, near the Casa García Restaurant. The use of buses and taxis is strongly recommended to avoid access and parking difficulties associated with the high volume of vehicles.
