The alert for significant danger will focus on the center and south of Gran Canaria during the central hours of the day, between 11 AM and 8 PM. Aemet estimates a 40-70% probability of reaching 37º C in the midlands of the southeast and west, with the possibility of locally reaching 39º C.
The heatwave affecting the archipelago has led the Government of the Canary Islands to activate an alert for high temperatures. The warning also extends to Fuerteventura, parts of Tenerife and La Gomera, where thermometers will hover around 35º C.
The forecast for Lanzarote indicates mostly clear skies with some high-altitude haze, temperatures remaining unchanged or slightly rising, potentially reaching 30 ºC locally on the southeast coasts.
In Fuerteventura, partly cloudy skies with haze are expected, with maximum temperatures slightly rising, potentially ranging between 30 and 32 ºC in the interior and southeast peninsula, without ruling out 34 ºC.
Gran Canaria will experience a temperature increase, more pronounced in other areas. Large parts of the south, west, and highlands will reach 34 ºC, and midland areas are predicted to reach 37 ºC, with a possibility of 39 ºC. Minimum temperatures might not drop below 26-27 ºC in these areas.
For Tenerife, temperatures are expected to rise, likely reaching 34 ºC in the midlands of the east, south, and west slopes, and up to 36 ºC in low-lying areas of the metropolitan southeast.
In La Gomera, temperatures will rise slightly, with a probable reach of 32 - 34 ºC in the highlands and midlands of the south and west.
La Palma will experience a temperature increase, especially in high areas, with a forecast of 30 - 32 ºC in the highlands and western slopes.
Finally, in El Hierro, temperatures will remain unchanged or slightly rise, with an expected reach of 30 - 32 ºC in the highlands and southern slopes.
