The Pájara Council has conveyed a message of reassurance to families in Costa Calma, guaranteeing that the municipal nursery school will remain operational. This assurance comes after a ruling from the Provincial Court of Las Palmas ordered the council to vacate the premises, which are situated on private land.
The municipal government group has stated that the service will continue to be provided "with complete normality." To defend the public interest and exhaust all legal avenues, the council in southern Fuerteventura will file a cassation appeal with the Supreme Court (TS).
Regardless of the judicial proceedings, the Council commits to "undertaking all necessary actions to guarantee the continuity of the nursery service" in Costa Calma, aiming to offer stability to the municipality's families.
Municipal sources have indicated that there is "no problem whatsoever" with the businessman, who owns the land according to the Provincial Court's ruling, and with whom the dispute is ongoing.
In parallel, the Department of Nurseries and Infant Schools has already begun the enrollment process for the 2026-2027 school year, reinforcing the message of normality and service continuity for families.
