The Departments of Environment and Gardens of the Pájara City Council have undertaken cleaning and conditioning interventions in the urban center of Morro Jable, in Fuerteventura. The work has concentrated on Senador Velázquez and del Carmen streets, high-traffic thoroughfares in the town.
The operation involved pruning trees and crown lifting, a technique that consists of removing lower branches. This measure aims to increase resident safety by clearing sidewalks and improving natural light penetration onto the streets.
Alexis Alonso, first deputy mayor and councilor for Gardens, highlighted the preventive importance of crown lifting for citizen safety. Meanwhile, Laya Batista, councilor for the Environment, assured that these maintenance and improvement tasks for green areas will continue steadily throughout the year as part of a municipal plan.
These actions are part of a broader municipal policy for the conservation of public spaces throughout the municipality of Pájara. Maintaining garden areas is driven not only by aesthetic criteria but also by road and pedestrian safety reasons, preventing risks associated with unmanaged vegetation, especially during windy or rainy periods.
The council thus reaffirms its commitment to creating well-maintained and accessible urban environments, prioritizing residents' quality of life. The plan is to extend these works to other garden areas in the municipality requiring similar attention in the coming weeks.
