The San Sebastián de La Gomera City Council has made direct financial aid payments to 118 individuals receiving non-contributory or welfare pensions, covering all submitted applications with an amount of 593.22 euros per beneficiary.
This initiative represents a total investment of 69,999.96 euros and aims to provide essential support to the municipality's most vulnerable groups. The measure is implemented amidst a rise in the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which has led to a significant increase in grocery prices and the cost of essential services.
“
"Our objective is to continue working to protect groups that, for various reasons, are at risk of social exclusion, and this economic aid provides some relief to cover essential expenses such as rent, food purchases, or other basic needs. With these types of actions, we aim to create a support and protection network that helps reduce the social and economic inequality gap."
The city council has highlighted the efforts made to streamline the processing and payment of these aids, successfully granting one hundred percent of the applications in record time. These subsidies are designed to directly support residents of San Sebastián de La Gomera whose non-contributory or welfare pensions do not exceed the current Minimum Interprofessional Wage.

"This year, one hundred percent of the requested aid has been granted thanks to the prior work done by the Administration. Consequently, all requested aids have been granted, and additionally, deadlines have been shortened, as the payment of these aids has been made in record time."
Furthermore, it has been clarified that these aids are compatible with other social subsidies granted by different institutions or entities, thus strengthening the support network for citizens in vulnerable situations.
