The PSOE of La Gomera, through its regional deputy and mayor of Alajeró, Manuel Ramón Plasencia, has called for the completion of the Alajeró-Airport-Paredes road, a project initiated in 2021 that is currently at 50% execution.

In a parliamentary commission on Public Works, Manuel Ramón Plasencia, the island's socialist representative, expressed his concern to the regional minister of Public Works of the Government of the Canary Islands. He pointed out that the road, which began in 2021, has undergone modifications and significant delays, with an emergency works phase that should have concluded in December 2025 but still lacks a clear completion date.
Plasencia indicated that the second modification for the project is still being processed and has not been approved, creating uncertainty about when it will be finished. The socialist deputy lamented the considerable delay the project is experiencing, fearing it will extend even further over time.

"We understand that there may be unforeseen circumstances that have affected the project timelines, and according to the minister, he wants to approve the second modification before December. Although he states that he expects the road to be finished by June 2027, the truth is that I believe obstacles are being placed in the way."

The also insular secretary of the PSOE in La Gomera highlighted the importance of this road for numerous users and urged that the general interest take precedence. He criticized the processing of the emergency works, which took a year to declare and another year to award, questioning if it truly fits the definition of an emergency given the slow pace of its management.
The socialist politician added that the work should have been completed long ago and expressed his fear that the finalization will be delayed by one or two more years, urging authorities to prioritize its completion.
