Offers for this project must be submitted through the Public Sector Contracting Platform, with the deadline being August 27. Detailed information about the tender is available on the platform of the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration.
The mayor, Angélica Padilla, explained that the current facilities, in use for over 28 years, have become outdated and do not fully comply with regulations. She noted the lack of a single, independent entrance for the coffin, the absence of a dedicated space for preparing the deceased and the coffin, and inadequate ventilation and refrigeration facilities.
Padilla recalled that a previous tender process in late May 2024, with an initial budget of 317,459 euros, was declared void. Consequently, work has been done on an improved project with an approximate increase of 100,000 euros in the final budget.
The mayor emphasized the priority of this project for the council, ensuring that residents in the southern part of the municipality should have the best possible facilities: spacious, modern, and accessible, especially during times of grief.
For his part, the councilor for Public Works, Agustín Herrera, detailed that the expansion aims to meet two basic needs: adapting the funeral home to current health and accessibility regulations, and increasing its capacity. This includes constructing a new wake room for greater privacy, a more suitable ante-room, new restrooms, and a bathroom adapted for people with reduced mobility, as well as eliminating architectural barriers.
