The socialist spokesperson, Ventura del Carmen Rodríguez Herrera, explained that her party's proposal focuses on a comprehensive strategy for public transport. This includes specific measures for areas such as La Lomada or the Los Chejelipes ravine, in addition to improvements in bus schedules and frequencies, the bike lane, and taxi services.
“"The objective, with the regulation of Audillón parking, is to reduce traffic intensity in the town center, and for this, we propose a participatory process, so that the new regulation considers the opinion of the citizens of San Sebastián."
The party emphasizes the importance of citizen participation for the regulation to truly meet real needs, as residents are best acquainted with daily traffic conditions. Issues to be consulted include the duration of parking at Audillón, considering whether two hours are sufficient or if more time is needed, as well as operating hours and, ultimately, the most beneficial use of this resource.
The Socialist Group has highlighted the significant increase in vehicles in the urban area of San Sebastián de La Gomera in recent years, which impacts traffic flow, public space occupation, and road safety. For the party, moving towards a sustainable mobility plan represents an opportunity to enhance quality of life, reduce polluting emissions, and make San Sebastián de La Gomera a more accessible, modern, and friendly municipality for both residents and visitors.
