The Valle Gran Rey City Council has initiated the second phase of the remodeling works for the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), which will entail significant traffic disruptions in the La Playa neighborhood.

This intervention, crucial for modernizing the municipal sanitation system, is being carried out in collaboration with the Department of Territorial Policy, Territorial Cohesion and Water of the Government of the Canary Islands. The underground canalization works for regenerated water impulsion will begin next Monday, April 13, 2026.

"We continue to take firm steps in a fundamental project for the municipality, which will allow us to modernize the sanitation network and improve wastewater management, with an infrastructure adapted to the current and future needs of Valle Gran Rey."

Borja Barroso · Mayor of Valle Gran Rey
The areas affected by temporary road traffic cuts and parking reservations will be Calle La Playa, Calle La Noria, and the Playa del Inglés road. The works are expected to conclude by the end of June.
The awarded company will ensure controlled and safe pedestrian access to homes, shops, and establishments, as well as to public services requiring access to the affected area. Parked vehicles in the affected streets will be removed if necessary for the proper development of the works.
The works will proceed progressively, advancing through different subsections from Avenida La Calera towards the interior of the neighborhood. Traffic regulation systems, such as signage, traffic lights, or flaggers, will be used to minimize inconvenience to residents and commercial and hotel establishments.
The Valle Gran Rey City Council has set up specific communication channels for inquiries and incidents related to these works: telephone 922 476 76, WhatsApp 660 719 834, and email incidencias@vallegranrey.es. The public's understanding and cooperation are requested, along with extreme caution in areas near the construction sites.
