The municipality of Valle Gran Rey hosted an institutional ceremony to honor the memory of Faride Cruz Niebla. The event, held at San Antonio Square in Guadá, brought together family, friends, institutional representatives, and local residents to celebrate a woman committed to preserving traditions and fostering community welfare.
The tribute recognized the significant impact Faride Cruz Niebla had on the cultural and social life of Valle Gran Rey, as well as her role in maintaining and transmitting popular customs, which are vital to the Gomera identity.
“"Faride understood that traditions are not just preserved, but kept alive when people are willing to dedicate their time, effort, and affection to passing them down through generations. Today, we return a small part of all she gave to this town."
Mayor Borja Barroso highlighted Cruz Niebla's dedication to local customs, describing her as an exemplary neighbor, cherished and respected, whose involvement left an indelible mark on Guadá and the entire municipality.

The President of the Cabildo of La Gomera, Casimiro Curbelo, emphasized Faride Cruz Niebla's importance in the collective memory of Valle Gran Rey and the island. He underscored her closeness, dedication, and commitment to Gomera traditions, particularly intangible heritage.
Curbelo also welcomed the naming of the Cultural Center of Valle Gran Rey after her, believing this recognition ensures her memory remains alive for present and future generations and highlights the shared responsibility to protect traditions.
The event featured the participation of the Taller de Chácaras, Tambores y Baile Faride, named in her honor for her cultural contributions, and a special performance by Los Cantadores, celebrating their 18 years of musical career.
The attendance of family, friends, and neighbors demonstrated the affection and gratitude towards Faride Cruz Niebla, whose work and commitment remain strongly present in the municipality's memory.
The Valle Gran Rey City Council thanked all attendees, viewing the event as a lasting tribute to the values Faride Cruz Niebla represented: effort, commitment, and love for traditions.
