Estrella C.F. emerged victorious in the XXI Pancho Ramírez Football Tournament, held at the Manuel Jiménez Rosales stadium in Carrizal. The tournament featured three local teams: Estrella C.F., CF Unión Deportiva Telde, and CF Unión Carrizal.
The event, which gathered supporters, family members of the honoree, and council members, was characterized by sportsmanship and emotion. The first deputy mayor of Ingenio, Rayco Padilla, attended on behalf of Mayor Vanesa Martín.
“"During the event, all attendees observed a minute of silence for Jeremías Andeme Ondo, the 14-year-old boy from Arucas CF who tragically drowned in a restricted-access cove between Puerto Rico and Amadores."
In the competition, CF Unión Deportiva Telde secured third place, receiving their trophy from Laura Miguel, great-granddaughter of Pancho Ramírez and the event's godmother. Second place went to CF Unión Carrizal, with their trophy presented by Encarna Ramírez, daughter of Pancho Ramírez. The champion team, Estrella CF, received their trophy from Rayco Padilla, the first deputy mayor of Ingenio.
Loli Ramírez, daughter of Pancho Ramírez and this year's herald for the patron saint festivities of Carrizal, was also present throughout the event. Family members of Pancho Ramírez were presented with a floral tribute, including godmother Laura Miguel, by the captain and secretary of the Carrizal team.
The tournament once again highlighted values such as respect, unity, and coexistence among young athletes, showcasing the bright future that lies ahead for them.
