Swimming is taking center stage at the Paco Artiles Municipal Sports Center in Telde, facilities that have gained popularity since their recent opening. The discipline has become one of the most in-demand sports activities, establishing the venue as a benchmark for sports practice and promotion in the city.
In this context, the Swimming Technical Area of the Royal Spanish Swimming Federation (RFEN), in collaboration with the Canarian Swimming Federation (FCN), will hold the sessions this weekend. They are aimed at both young swimmers and their coaching staff.
The Councilor for Physical Activity and Sports of the Telde City Council, Cristhian Santana Caballero, highlighted the importance of these sessions, stating that "the commissioning of the Paco Artiles is allowing citizens to once again enjoy renovated facilities and, at the same time, for Telde to host top-level training and development activities." He added that swimming was one of the most in-demand disciplines and it is a satisfaction that it is now taking center stage.
Santana also emphasized that the presence of reference national coaches and athletes and coaches from different islands demonstrates the potential of the facility and reinforces the commitment to positioning Telde as a Sports City.
The sessions will feature the participation of coaches Alexander Marinof, physical trainer at the Madrid Blume National Training Center of the RFEN, and Jordi Jou, Olympic coach and technical director of the Club Natació Sant Andreu.
During the weekend, two training programs will be held: the Clinic 2.0, focused on Efficiency Training, and a clinic dedicated to Dry Work in age categories, addressing the preparation and development of young swimmers.
The activity will bring together athletes from the alevín, infantil, and júnior categories, as well as coaches and technical staff from clubs from La Palma, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura, making the Paco Artiles a meeting point for grassroots swimming in the Canary Islands.
Additionally, the program will include the II Technical Sessions of the Canarian Swimming Federation 2026, featuring presentations by local coaches and the unveiling of the FCN's work plan for the 2026-2027 season.
Through this initiative, the Paco Artiles Municipal Sports Center continues to integrate into the sports activity of Telde, hosting not only citizen sports practice but also training, development, and talent promotion actions.
