The Department of Public Works, Infrastructure, Architecture, and Housing of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria will carry out demolition and removal work on Monday, August 17th, for several large rocks that pose a risk of falling onto the road. The operation will take place on the GC-100, between the neighborhoods of Cuatro Puertas and Ingenio, and will require a ten-hour road closure, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
The intervention is being carried out after technicians from the road maintenance company detected several large, cracked stones at risk of detachment. The closure will begin at kilometer marker 15.7 and end at 16.8, at the entrance to the Aguatona neighborhood.
Drivers proceeding from Telde towards Ingenio will need to detour via Cuatro Puertas, Ojos de Garza, and the GC-1. Conversely, those traveling from Ingenio towards Telde must take the route to the GC-1 via El Carrizal. Communications have been sent to the affected municipalities, and informational signs have been placed along the road.
To remove the rocks, an excavator will be used to break down the slope in a controlled manner. A layer of earth will be spread as a cushion to absorb the impact of the stones, after which the road will be cleaned before reopening to traffic.
The Department requests the utmost cooperation from drivers and asks them to follow the instructions of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria personnel who will be working in the area.
