The neighborhood of La Banda is immersed in the main events of its Festivities in Honor of the Virgen del Carmen, which began on July 10 and will extend until next Sunday, July 19. The program includes religious, cultural, and festive events.
This Friday, July 17, the traditional Romería Ofrenda (Pilgrimage Offering) in honor of the Virgen del Carmen stands out. The route will start at 7:30 PM from Llano Blanco and will feature the participation of the folk groups Risco Verde, Tacoremi, and Tesey. The day will continue with a 'baile de taifa' (traditional dance) in La Banda square and a 'verbena' (street party) accompanied by the group Guajara Show.
On Saturday, July 18, children's activities are scheduled, such as a water fun park and a foam party in the neighborhood square. In the afternoon, the image of the Virgen del Carmen will be moved to the church of Buen Suceso for a Eucharist and subsequent procession accompanied by the Folk Group Tacoremi. The night will conclude with a grand 'verbena' by D-Music and Leyenda Joven, followed by the traditional distribution of chicken broth.
The celebrations will end on Sunday, July 19, with a popular toast and a paella in La Banda square, as well as the 'verbena del solajero' accompanied by Son Karibe. Performances by Neulio Santana and Abelito SS will provide the final touch to nine days of neighborhood coexistence.
Since their start on July 10, the festivities have seen notable participation in various organized activities, including a veterans' football match, street drumming, Family Day, a popular barbecue, a card game tournament, an 'Escala en Hi-Fi' talent show, and a dance for seniors, consolidating these celebrations as a key space for neighborhood gathering and coexistence.
