The political formation demands that the mayor immediately comply with the municipal secretary's report and present it at the next plenary session. This demand arises after the mayor avoided addressing the document in the last session, citing the existence of precautionary measures that have now been dismissed by the courts.
NC believes that these judicial resolutions validate the formation's previous decisions and reinforce the need for the involved councilors to assume their status as non-attached councilors, having abandoned the political group with which they ran in the elections.
It is a serious irregularity and a lack of institutional respect that the mayor maintains his refusal to apply the criteria of the corporation's secretary general.
The party criticizes the mayor for admitting to seeking alternatives to avoid applying said criteria, which already established the situation of political defection. This stance, according to NC, is even more unjustifiable after the recent judicial resolutions, which is why they insist that the report be brought to the April plenary session and acted upon according to law.
Nueva Canarias Santa Lucía also warns of the «institutional deterioration» that, in their opinion, the current political situation in the City Council is causing, with a minority government. They accuse the involved councilors of prioritizing their personal situation over the political project supported by the citizenry and criticize their affiliation with other political formations outside the municipality, such as the BNR.
The formation concludes its statement by calling for a swift normalization of the institutional situation and respect for democratic rules in the local corporation of Santa Lucía de Tirajana.
