Santa Lucía submits two projects for the FECAM 2026 Awards

The Santa Lucía de Tirajana City Council has submitted two candidacies for the FECAM 2026 Awards, recognizing its innovative social policies in Social Services modernization and youth loneliness prevention.
The Santa Lucía de Tirajana City Council has formalized the submission of two candidacies for the FECAM 2026 Awards, an initiative by the Canary Islands Federation of Municipalities to honor the best municipal practices in the archipelago. The selected proposals are the project “Comprehensive Model for the Modernization of Community Social Services through Territorial Sectorization, Social Innovation, and Collaborative Governance” and the “Adolescent and Youth Laboratory for the Prevention of Unwanted Loneliness”.
These candidacies highlight the municipality's commitment to strengthening public services, social innovation, citizen participation, and the development of tailored responses to contemporary social challenges.
The first proposal details the transformation of Community Social Services through the Social Action Sectorization Plan (ARROPE) and the Observatory of Social and Community Innovation (OISCO), in collaboration with the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. This model aims for closer citizen-centered care, enhanced community action, and continuous innovation and evaluation mechanisms in public management.
The second candidacy focuses on preventing unwanted loneliness among adolescents and young people through a municipal laboratory that integrates research, youth participation, awareness-raising, and solution design. This project empowers youth in diagnosing and creating innovative responses to improve emotional well-being and social cohesion.
