During the latest plenary session in Valsequillo, the party, the main opposition group, expressed its disagreement with the speed at which this reallocation of funds was processed. Its spokesperson, Francisco Atta, contrasted this decision with the previous refusal to urgently push for a budget amendment to address the road connecting Lomitos de Correa with La Palma.
According to ASBA, this budgetary change comes after the mayor, Juan Carlos Hernández, advocated for the elimination of funds reserved for a trusted position, citing the need to enhance transparency and public information.
The reallocation of this amount to institutional advertising opens the debate on the priorities of the current local executive and whether the expenditure responds to the institution's informational needs or to a greater public projection of the governing group.
The opposition recalled that temporary staff is a figure provided for in public administration and asserted that, during their time in government with ASBA-CC, this resource was used for technical support and internal coordination to strengthen municipal services.
ASBA also maintained that the City Council already possesses sufficient channels to disseminate municipal activities without increasing this budget item. They cited institutional social media, the municipal radio, and the production center of Este Canal in Valsequillo as examples, services which, they noted, already receive public funding.
