The archipelago will experience a significant temperature increase this Wednesday, with maximums possibly reaching up to 40 degrees Celsius in various areas. The day will also be marked by the presence of dust (calima), intermittent clouds, and trade winds with strong to very strong gusts.
In the capitals, Santa Cruz de Tenerife is forecast to have a high of 30 degrees and a low of 22, while Las Palmas de Gran Canaria expects a high of 27 degrees and a low of 22. Winds will blow from the northeast, moderate to strong, with particularly intense gusts in inland areas and southern slopes of the islands.
At sea, northeast winds of force 5 to 6 are expected, with probable local intervals of force 7, accompanied by rough seas, occasionally becoming very rough, and a northerly swell of 1 to 2 meters.
In Lanzarote, there will be intervals of medium and high clouds, along with dust at altitude. Temperatures will see little change, except for slight rises in maximums. Inland southern areas could exceed 30 / 32 ºC. The trade winds will be moderate, with strength in the interior and south, where very strong gusts are probable, especially in the early morning.
Fuerteventura will predominantly have intervals of medium and high clouds, with dust at altitude. Temperatures will remain unchanged on the east coast and rise slightly on the west. Inland southern areas are expected to exceed 32 / 34 ºC. The trade winds will be moderate, with strong intervals in interior zones and south of Jandía, where very strong gusts may occur, particularly in the early morning and afternoon.
In Gran Canaria, temperatures will rise slightly to moderately, with ascents that could be notable in the southwestern midlands' minimums. Over 35 / 37 ºC, and locally over 37 / 40 ºC, are expected in the southeastern, southern, and western midlands, as well as in the Tejeda basin. Nighttime temperatures will barely drop below 25 / 27 ºC in these areas. Northern midlands could exceed 30 ºC, while low-lying northern areas will see little change. The trade winds will be moderate to strong, with greater intensity on the southeast and northwest slopes, where very strong gusts could exceed 80 km/h in the early morning and afternoon. Southwestern areas will experience breezes. In midlands and high areas, the wind will be easterly, occasionally strong at first, tending to light northerly on peaks.
For Tenerife, expect intervals of medium and high clouds, along with low clouds in northern low-lying areas during the early and late hours. Central peaks have a low probability of occasional rain, especially in the afternoon. Dust is also expected in midlands and high areas, more significant on the southern slopes. Temperatures will rise slightly to moderately, with notable increases possible in midland minimums. Over 34 ºC is expected on the southern slope of the metropolitan area, and over 35 ºC, with local values of 37 ºC not ruled out, in the southeastern, southern, and western midlands. Nighttime minimums will barely drop below 25 ºC in these zones. The trade winds will be moderate, with strong intervals and probable very strong gusts on the southeastern slope and the extreme northwest. Southwestern areas will experience breezes. Central peaks will have light westerly winds, intensifying by the end of the day.
La Gomera anticipates intervals of medium and high clouds, plus low clouds in northern low-lying areas early and late. Dust will be present in midlands and high areas, with greater incidence on the southern slope. Temperatures will rise slightly to moderately, with a potentially notable increase in southwestern midland minimums. Over 34 ºC is expected in southeastern, southern, and western midlands. Northern midlands could reach 30 ºC, while northern low-lying areas will see little change. The trade winds will be moderate, with strong intervals and very strong gusts on eastern and northwestern slopes, occasionally exceeding 80 km/h. Southwestern areas will experience breezes.
On La Palma, northern areas below 600 / 700 meters will have cloudy intervals early and late, with mostly clear skies at midday. Other areas will be mostly clear. Light dust is expected in midlands and high areas. Temperatures will rise slightly to moderately, with notable increases possible in minimums. Over 34 ºC could be reached in western midlands and high areas. Eastern midlands might exceed 30 ºC, while northern and eastern low-lying areas will see little change. The trade winds will be moderate with strong intervals and occasional very strong gusts on the southeastern and northwestern extremities. Western areas will experience breezes. In midlands and high areas, winds will be easterly, occasionally strong at first, turning to light northerly on peaks later.
Lastly, El Hierro will have intervals of medium and high clouds, along with low clouds below 400 / 500 meters in the north during early and late hours. Light dust is expected in midlands and high areas, more significant on the southern slope. Temperatures will rise slightly to moderately, with notable increases possible in southwestern midland minimums. Over 34 ºC is expected in southern midlands and high areas. Northwestern midlands could exceed 30 ºC, while northeastern low-lying areas will see little change. The trade winds will be moderate with strong intervals and probable very strong gusts on the southeastern and northwestern extremities. Southwestern areas will experience breezes. On the peaks, winds will be light easterly, turning northerly at the end of the day.
