Meteorological models indicate that the arrival of an Atlantic trough will be the key factor in triggering a widespread drop in temperatures. While intense heat will persist for most of the week, conditions are expected to become more manageable as the weekend approaches.
Prior to this relief, the islands face critical days. Maximum temperatures are expected to exceed 35ºC in large areas of the archipelago until Wednesday or Thursday. In specific parts of Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, and Lanzarote, thermometers could reach between 38ºC and 40ºC, accompanied by 'torrid nights' where minimums will not drop below 25ºC.
Atmospheric instability will also be a factor between Wednesday and Thursday. The increased likelihood of dry thunderstorms, characterized by little precipitation but strong wind gusts, raises the potential risk of forest fires across the country.
