The Popular Party (PP) of Canarias and the Neighbors' Group (AV) of San Bartolomé de Tirajana have formalized their integration, joining forces under the PP banner for upcoming municipal elections with the goal of presiding over the Gran Canaria Council.

The president of the PP of Canarias, Manuel Domínguez, and the president of the Neighbors' Group (AV) of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Marco Aurelio Pérez, sealed an integration agreement this Saturday. The municipalist party will run under the PP's siglas in the next electoral events, in an act attended by members and supporters from both sides.
Manuel Domínguez emphasized that this union is not merely a formality but a fusion to create "strong steel" for the 2027 municipal elections and, crucially, to regain the Presidency of the Gran Canaria Council. He considered this alliance the "first stone" towards achieving insular government, although no names for the candidacy were revealed.
Carlos Sánchez, president of the PP of Gran Canaria, shared the vision of "painting Gran Canaria blue" at both municipal and insular levels, with the ultimate goal of reaching the Presidency of Spain. He highlighted that the PP is "building a team" and that figures like Marco Aurelio Pérez are key to this project in the south of the island.
Marco Aurelio Pérez expressed his aim to form a "winning team" capable of driving the growth of San Bartolomé de Tirajana. Responding to messages from other parties, he stated that from the PP, "we know how to defend our land" both in the Canary Islands and in Madrid, assuring that popular management benefits the island.
Pérez also lamented the loss of four years in the previous municipal administration, committing to "rebuild" San Bartolomé de Tirajana to restore it to its 2019 state. He concluded that under the PP's siglas, the objective is to "contribute to making this country great, making the Canary Islands great, making Gran Canaria great, and ensuring San Bartolomé Tirajana remains great."
The PP considers this day "very important" for laying the groundwork for municipalism in Gran Canaria, aspiring to a "decent, center-right government" led by the party, following what they described as "12 years of socialist and communist government" that "has done nothing."
