This phenomenon, driven by a mass of warm and dry air, is expected to persist until at least next Sunday.
The weather event is accompanied by haze in higher altitudes and a critical increase in the risk of forest fires. The combination of southern winds and a drop in marine humidity will intensify the stifling conditions, particularly affecting the mid-altitudes and the southern and western slopes of the island.
Authorities have reiterated the importance of following preventive measures, such as limiting sun exposure, staying hydrated, and monitoring vulnerable groups closely. Additionally, the use of fire in unauthorized areas is prohibited, and the public is urged to avoid discarding waste in forest areas to prevent fires.
