The scene, captured at dusk in one of Gran Canaria's most iconic natural landscapes, shows numerous individuals crossing the safety rope. The person who recorded the footage expressed indignation at the behavior, noting that access to the restricted area occurred once security personnel departed.
The images, taken at 8:49 PM, show visitors taking advantage of the absence of staff to enter the nature reserve, drawing criticism for the potential environmental impact.

This incident reignites concerns about the protection of the Maspalomas Dunes, a key landscape in the south of the island. The complaint highlights the need for effective measures to prevent such occurrences, especially following the enhanced controls implemented by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria in April.
In April, the Cabildo had intensified surveillance with additional personnel, drones, and inter-agency coordination, alongside announcing the installation of sensors, cameras, and public address systems to monitor the 404 hectares of protected space. It was then reiterated that unauthorized access incurs penalties, promoting the message 'let the gaze be the only footprint'.
