This three-hundred-meter stretch of toasted sand, protected by a breakwater that ensures calm waters, has become a peaceful haven for residents and visitors. The Association for Environmental Education and Consumer Affairs (Adeac) granted this recognition, bringing the total number of Blue Flags on the island to fifteen.
Las Burras beach thus joins four other beaches in the municipality that already held this distinction: Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés, San Agustín, and Meloneras. Regular beachgoers have expressed that this recognition is well-deserved and could even have arrived sooner, highlighting the impeccable cleanliness and good facilities of the area.
“"It is a very welcoming and quiet place. Both residents and tourists who visit are usually families looking for calm and who do not make a fuss."
Local businesses have also enthusiastically welcomed the news, considering it an incentive to attract more visitors. However, some merchants have pointed out the need to improve certain services, such as the installation of more waste bins and the availability of public restrooms, as well as improving access to the promenade for elderly people or those with reduced mobility.
“"Maspalomas Costa Canaria consolidates practically its entire tourist coastline under the Blue Flag distinction."
From the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council, the Councillor for Tourism, Coast, and Beaches, Yilenia Vega, celebrated the inclusion of Las Burras, emphasizing that the municipality is consolidating its position as a leader in this aspect within the Archipelago. This award reinforces the area's image linked to quality, safety, sustainability, and tourist excellence.
