The Mogán City Council has managed to replace the banners installed in Arguineguín that contained a spelling error in the Pope's welcome greeting in time.

The Department of Tourism had placed banners to cover vacant lots in the fishing district of Arguineguín, but an error was discovered in the word "Bienvenuti," an incorrect Italian form for welcome. Ahead of the Pope's imminent visit this Thursday, a crew of workers labored to replace the banners with new ones.
The newly made banners now correctly read "benvenuti," meaning welcome in the plural, along with other greetings in various European languages. The Pope's visit to Arguineguín is scheduled for Thursday at the pier, where he will preside over an event honoring migrants.

"Pope Leo XIV will attend the Arguineguín pier this Thursday to preside over an homage event for migrants, where he will be received by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the president of the autonomous community, Fernando Clavijo. Also present will be the mayor of Mogán, the controversial Onalia Bueno, who has always been known for her opposition to migration, and several ministers, including the Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres."
