The application submitted by the Mogán City Council emphasized its strong commitment to sustainability, digitalization, and the modernization of urban spaces. This approach is particularly relevant in a municipality with high tourism specialization, where efficient management of natural resources is crucial.
Thanks to this distinction, Mogán joins the Innpulso Network, a national forum comprising 128 Spanish cities that use innovation as a tool for social, economic, and urban transformation. This network facilitates the exchange of experiences, projects, and strategies among local administrations.
Among the initiatives highlighted in the application were the Senda Verde del Barranco de Mogán, the Tamaranae trail network, the re-naturalization of the Barranco de Pino Seco, and improvements in sustainable mobility in Arguineguín. Actions related to the modernization of public lighting, the digitalization of the water cycle, and the improvement of energy efficiency in municipal buildings were also valued.
The award also recognizes the consolidation of a local innovation ecosystem, involving universities, educational centers, business entities, and national and international networks. This collaboration has been fundamental for progress in urban transformation projects, sustainable tourism, and administrative digitalization.
This distinction reinforces Mogán's position as a municipality that seeks to address present and future challenges through public policies based on innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement of urban services.
