The eleventh edition of the Fred. Olsen Express Transgrancanaria Bike 2026 came to an end this Sunday in Maspalomas with the final 70-kilometer queen stage. The event, which brought together over 230 cyclists from 13 nationalities, started and finished at the Parque Sur.
The decisive stage began with the ascent of the Ayagaures ravine, also the starting point for the E-Bike category. Participants faced a course combining flat sections with technical segments until reaching the finish line.
In the women's category, Dutch cyclist Tessa Kortekaas, a resident of Lanzarote and currently ranked 18th in the UCI, secured her absolute dominance with a fourth consecutive stage victory. Kortekaas managed her lead from the start, distancing herself from France's Sophie Giovane after the climb to Ayagaures. Kortekaas finished first with a time of 3:23:53, followed by Giovane. The battle for the podium among Canary Islands residents was won by Vanessa Lessa, who overtook Lourdes Bethencourt on the final day.
In the men's competition, the leadership battle focused on Hans Becking and debutant Pedro Rodríguez, as well as the duel for the best Canary Islands resident jersey between Rodríguez and Blas Rivero. The early kilometers were marked by equality, but differences began to emerge after passing Pedrazo Bajo, with Luis Ángel Maté and Becking setting the pace.
Pedro Rodríguez managed to overtake Blas Rivero to secure the best Canary Islands resident jersey. In the stage race, Luis Ángel Maté won an intense duel against Hans Becking, who confirmed his fourth consecutive overall victory in the event. Kortekaas also retained her title, achieving a historic double.
The day also included the E-Bikes race, won by Jonay Vega, and the Half modality, with Óliver de la Cruz taking the overall win.
The trophy ceremony was attended by Ramón Suárez, Sports Councilor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, and Naima Sow, representative of Fred. Olsen Express.
