The Mogán City Council expects to generate 3.8 million euros in net profits from the operation of 2,506 hammocks and 1,289 parasols on ten of its beaches between 2026 and 2030, having requested the necessary authorization from Costas del Gobierno de Canarias to occupy 15,430 square meters of public domain land.
This forecast is based on a 50% annual occupancy rate for seasonal services, which also include sports facilities and public restrooms. The economic-financial balance submitted to Costas details that the total projected revenue for the five years across the ten coves amounts to 14.6 million euros.
The beaches included in the plan are Mogán, Taurito, El Cura, Tauro, Puerto Rico, La Verga, Aquamarina, Patalavaca, Costa Alegre, and Marañuelas. The only beach projected to be unprofitable over the five years is Las Marañuelas, the urban cove of Arguineguín, where permission is sought for 36 hammocks, 18 parasols, a sports area with kayaks and paddle surf, and restrooms.
Puerto Rico beach will have the largest number of hammocks and parasols, with 968 and 484 respectively, followed by La Verga, with 526 single hammocks, 21 double hammocks, and 284 parasols. The best-equipped sports areas will be located in Taurito, La Verga, and Puerto Rico.
